Baseball is an age old bat and ball game. Its origins are hard to pin point there are many theories to the birth of this very popular game. Baseball is so called because of the way it’s played. The basic aim of the game is to hit the bat with the ball and in the process make runs. There are two teams which play the game at a time. The team with the maximum runs wins. The basic objective is to make the maximum runs possible. There are two teams which play each other and each team comprises of nine players at a time. Now to the origin of the name “baseball”, the ground is so arranged that that there are four bases. These bases are arranged in the form of a square. These bases are placed at a distance of ninety foot from each other.

The players come out one by one to hit the ball with the bat and hence make runs. They can run from one base to another for making runs and the other team mate then takes the place for batting. This way the batters in the first round are required to make as many runs as possible. The pitchers keep track of the number of strikes per team. Each player is allowed three strikes. The opposing team is allowed three outs. After which the teams switch for fielding and batting. Each team is allowed a chance to bat, this is called an inning. Each game comprises of nine innings.
